11月、ABARTH本社への訪問の翌日、私たちは幸運にもManuelとSportec Engineeringを訪問することができました。
以前からFacebookでやり取りしていたこともありますが、僕らのABARTHに対する思いなどを話すうちにすぐに意気投合。出場するラリーについても、ABARTH本社スタッフと同様に「ローマがいいだろう」と言ってくれました。
綿密に作られた彼のABARTH 500 Rally R3Tも、少しだけですがテストドライブすることができました。
何より感動したのは、彼がラリーカーを運転する様が、本当に丁寧で、いつくしむような操作をしていたこと。
勝手に”さぞアグレッシブなんだろうな”と想像していた自分が恥ずかしい！
速い走りの裏には、まさにミリ単位未満の精密かつ丁寧な操作が存在する。僕の理想の姿を見せられたような気がして、ますます惚れてしまいました！

Rally Driver Tomo’s column 『All roads lead to ROMA』

The following day, we met Manuel and visited Sportec Engineering.
I and Manuel had been communicating via Facebook before, so we soon became good friends as “ABARTH 500 Rally R3T drivers”.
Manuel also recommended that Rally di Roma Capitale is the good rally for us.
I could drive his rally car, which is very clean and in perfectly conditioned, but what surprised me was his way of driving;
he drove his rally car in a SUPER polite manner, as if he holds a baby in his arms.
I deeply regreted my stereotype like “fast guy would drive a car aggresively”,but at the same time
I got more confident that “ideal driving is to handle a car slowly with a milli order precision”
